EXTRA CREDIT OPTIONS in SPRING 2008

Four (4) extra credit options (3 points each) allowed per student per semester. Total max. extra credit points available: 12 points.

Discuss additional extra credit options with Prof. Rosenstand (additional possibilities: attending relevant stage plays, films).

Extra credit option expired: Social Sciences Occasional Lecture Friday May 9, 12:00. LRC Room 435. Speaker: Angela Oberbauer, Lecturer at Mesa College; topic: "Separation of Church and State:  Constitutional Policy in Conflict"

Extra credit option: Write ca. 1/2 page about any study question in Ch.2 (course packet).

Extra credit option: Any of the 2nd paper topics you choose not to write your essay about: Write no less than 1/2 page, no more than 1 page, for extra credit.

Extra credit option: Write 1/2 page about an aspect of this article in the New York Times 5/22/07: "This is Your Life (and How You Tell It"

Extra credit option: Rent and watch East of Eden, and and write a short essay (1-2 paragraphs) about the film, explaining key differences between the film and the book.

Extra credit option: Read or watch The Name of the Rose, and write a short essay (1-2 paragraphs) about the murder mystery and its connection to Aristotle.

Extra credit option: Rent and watch (or read) Fahrenheit 451, and and write a short essay (1-2 paragraphs) about the film/book, explaining its view on the value of novels.

Extra Credit Spring 2006:

Extra credit option: Rent and watch (or read) a film or novel of your choice, and and write a short essay (1-2 paragraphs) about the film/book, explaining its specific philosophical/ethical viewpoint (example: I Heart Huckabees; The Butterfly Effect.

Extra credit option: Rent and watch East of Eden, and and write a short essay (1-2 paragraphs) about the film, explaining key differences between the film and the book.

Extra credit option: Rent and watch (or read) Fahrenheit 451, and and write a short essay (1-2 paragraphs) about the film/book, explaining its view on the value of novels.

Extra credit option: Read the entire Left Hand of Darkness novel, and write a short essay (1-2 paragraphs) about the book's view of gender.

Extra credit option: Read or watch The Name of the Rose, and write a short essay (1-2 paragraphs) about the murder mystery and its connection to Aristotle.
