GEOLOGIC TOUR OF TOURMALINE BEACH and MT SOLEDAD

Driving Directions to tourmaline beach (Stop 1):
 |
Follow I-5 north or south to Pacific Beach. |

From I-5 heading south, take the Grand/Garnet/Balboa Ave exit. Turn right (west) on Garnet Ave. |
|
From I-5 heading north, take the Mission Bay Drive exit. Turn left (west) on Garnet Ave. |
|
Follow Garnet Ave west, toward beaches. |
|
Turn right (north) on Mission Blvd. |
|
Veer left onto La Jolla Blvd. |
|
Turn left almost immediately onto Tourmaline Street and head down hill to parking lot. If lot is full, head back up hill and park where you can. |

Meet at far end of parking lot near bathrooms. |
DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO MT. SOLEDAD (STOP 2):

Head up the hill (east) on Tourmaline Street. Turn left onto Mission Blvd. |
|
Stay on Mission Blvd (becomes La Jolla Mesa Drive). Keep heading uphill on La Jolla Mesa Drive. |
|
Turn right onto La Jolla Scenic Drive. |
|
Turn left (uphill), remaining on La Jolla Scenic Drive. |
|
Continue uphill on La Jolla Scenic Drive to Mt. Soledad Park (look for large white cross). |

At top of hill, veer right on Soledad Park Road, into Mt. Soledad Park (if you start going downhill, turn around; you've gone too far). Park in lower lot (first lot on left as you enter Mt. Soledad Park). We'll meet here. |
