BIOLOGY 231

MEDIA EXPERIENCES IN HUMAN ANATOMY

I.      Course Co-requisite

         Concurrent enrollment in Human Anatomy, Biology 230.

 II.     Course Description

         Opportunities provided to extend and master the information of human anatomy by using the materials available in the center for independent learning (CIL), located on the fourth floor of the learning resource center.  Photomicrographs with taped interpretations of gross and microscopic anatomy, videotapes, models, and other autotutorial materials can be used at the student's own discretion and convenience.  The CIL is open during day and evening hours and also on Saturday.

 III.   Credit and Policy

         A.     The student shall be granted one unit of credit for a minimum of 16 hours of time spent in the pursuit of the above activities in the CIL.

         B.     The student must log in and out of the CIL each time in order to receive credit.

         C.     The student must complete biology 230 in order to gain credit for 231.

         D.     The student shall receive a credit (CR) if 16 (50 minutes/hour) or more hours are logged in and a noncredit (NC) if less than 16 hours are obtained.

         E.     The last day to accrue hours is the day before final exam week begins.

         F.      A mark of 'W' will be awarded to any student dropping the course before the final drop date as stated in the class schedule.

 IV.    Enrollment

         A.     Obtain an add code from your anatomy instructor.

         B.     Process the add code through class talk and pay the fees before the final add deadline.

 V.     Dropping

         Drop the class through class talk.

 VI.    Other Information

         A.     The CIL staff will help you obtain the autotutorial materials and also help you in using the equipment.

         B.     There is no smoking, eating, drinking or children permitted in the CIL.

         C.     Use care in the employment of the materials and equipment.

         D.     Please report any problems associated with the materials to Mr. Brothers in I3-307 or call (619) 388-2787.
 

         E.     Do not wait until the last moment to use the materials since their use increases around exam time.
